Hyundai Launches China-Tailored Ioniq V Electric Sedan
Hyundai Motor launched the Ioniq V electric sedan in China on 29 September 2026 at a limited-time starting price of 99,900 yuan ($14,820). The mid-size sedan offers a CLTC driving range of up to 650 kilometres, features CATL batteries and Momenta driver assistance technology. Five trim variants are available with launch discounts ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 yuan.
Beijing Hyundai, the Chinese joint venture of Hyundai Motor, launched the Ioniq V electric sedan on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, offering five trim variants at limited-time pricing. The entry-level model starts at 99,900 yuan with a suggested retail price of 109,900 yuan after launch discounts. Higher-range variants reach 131,900 yuan in limited-time pricing, with suggested retail prices of 139,900 yuan.
Designed by Hyundai's China team, the mid-size sedan is built on the E-GMP platform and features single-motor configurations producing either 140 kW or 168 kW of power. The vehicle supports 800-volt fast charging technology and is equipped with CATL lithium iron phosphate batteries available in 53.48 and 66.85 kWh capacities, delivering CLTC driving ranges of 540 and 650 kilometres respectively.
The Ioniq V employs a fastback design with frameless doors, measuring 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,470 mm in height. The cabin features a 27-inch 4K display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor, alongside an available head-up display. The infotainment system integrates AI models including Baidu's Ernie Bot and ByteDance's Doubao.
Driver assistance comprises an L2+ system co-developed with Momenta, offering highway navigation assistance, urban memory navigation and parking support across multiple zones with continuous dialogue capability. Launch benefits include a lifetime vehicle warranty, battery degradation coverage and compensation for spontaneous battery fires within specified time and mileage limits.
The Ioniq V represents the first production model under Hyundai's renewed electrification strategy in China, part of plans to launch 20 new energy vehicles within five years targeting 500,000 unit sales by 2030.
