Xiaomi Debuts Dragonscale Battery with Lifetime Fire Safety Guarantee for Skynomad Models
Xiaomi announced the Dragonscale battery in partnership with CALB and Sunwoda, featuring a lifetime safety guarantee against fires from manufacturing defects and collisions. The battery will debut in Skynomad EREV models on 7 September 2026, starting with the N90 and N70 variants.
Xiaomi introduced the Dragonscale battery developed alongside CALB and Sunwoda, incorporating enhanced safety features designed to exceed Chinese national standards. Li Xiaoshuang, vice-CEO of Xiaomi's automotive division, stated that the battery surpasses cycle-life benchmarks through stringent raw-material validation and optimized manufacturing processes.
The lifetime warranty encompasses comprehensive protections: owners receive a replacement vehicle of equivalent specification and trim in cases of spontaneous combustion stemming from manufacturing defects. The guarantee also covers battery fires caused by collisions or underbody damage, with Xiaomi pledging to cover the difference between insurance payouts and the vehicle's pre-incident market value.
The new battery responds to critical events within milliseconds, equipped with high-voltage isolators featuring millisecond-level switching capabilities and redundant insulation materials. Xiaomi's proprietary "Cloud BMS" battery management system employs cloud-based artificial intelligence to continuously monitor individual cell conditions. The system samples cell data at 10 times the national standard frequency while capturing 3 times greater data volume, enabling rapid detection and response to anomalies.
The Dragonscale battery will debut alongside the Skynomad EREV SUV lineup on 7 September 2026, with initial application to the N90 and N70 models. Coverage applies exclusively to non-commercial first-owner vehicles, excluding ride-sharing, rental, and pre-owned applications. Warranty eligibility also requires enrollment in Xiaomi's connected vehicle services and maintenance at authorized Xiaomi service centres.
